Nighty Night Time

Like many babies, Cade seemed to have his days and nights mixed up. We knew this was a common issue. What we didn't know was how to fix the 'problem'. Until the Doctor clued us in. See, we were catering to the Little Man. Brad would stay up (TV on, lights on) all night and go to sleep at 4am. I would wake up at 4am to take over. That way someone was always up to keep an eye on him.
Well, with all of the constant action, Cade wasn't getting the cue from us that it was nighttime. Makes perfect sense now....
After the light bulb went on for Brad and I, we tried out Doctor's orders that very night. No more sleeping with the TV on. It is now Cade's way or the highway! :) All lights went off and noise went off. And guess what...? It worked the very first try! He (all 3 of us actually) slept during the night hours!

I decided to get greedy and take it even one more step. I have read that babies aren't ready to be on a schedule until they are 2 months old. Well, I decided to put this little 1 month old babe to the test. So last night I tried the bedtime ritual..... just to see.

First, a bath to relax Cade and calm him down...
Then into his room for story time. I didn't think he would focus on the book, but he did!
I let him choose the story... he picked Goodnight Moon. Good pick, Cade!

Next, it was time to fill his belly. We all sleep better after a huge Thanksgiving meal, so why wouldn't he?

Next it was time for a lullaby. I am no American Idol, but Cade seemed to like it:)

Last, it was off to dream land. I couldn't believe it went so smoothly. He woke up twice during the night for diaper changes and feedings but went right back down. You amaze me Little Monkey! You are the best son I could ever ask for! :) We love you, Baby Boy!

Boys Will Be Boys

Just wanted to show off my boys... one big 'n one little. I love you guys! You make me so happy! How did I luck out with not 1, but 2 cuties!?

It's Aunt Robini!

We 3 Amigos took a little trip down to Balboa to visit Uncle Brent & Aunt Robin while they were hard at work with the Jr. Lifeguards. You can see all the kiddos in the background. Cade has 12 years until he can take part in this summer camp. Ready or not... here comes Cade!

Tummy Sleeper...

Cade's favorite sleep position.... just like his Mama:) He is so darn cute - I just want to eat him up!

Field Trip

Cade Kendall...

We took you on a field trip today... to show you the world of surfing! We went to the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach! Daddy was so excited to show you this event. He made sure you watched the pros - Kelly Slater, Jordy Smith, Brett Simpson, etc. - so you could pick up pointers. What a fun day we had... just the '3 of us'.

I must admit, you were the cutest boy there! Except for Daddy of course... you 2 tied!
Can't wait for many more field trips to come!
xoxo,
Mommy

Look Who's 1 Month!

Happy Birthday Angel Boy! I cannot believe you are already 1 month old! Time flies. You are getting so big already. You are picking your head up and everyone says how alert you are. You make Mommy and Daddy so proud. We are still so in awe of you. You make us SO HAPPY. Our family is complete. Move over Jackson 5... we are the Jacobsen 5! (Don't forget our 4 legged friends, Chewy & Penny. That makes 5!) Mommy was so excited to celebrate this milestone and have a little party for you. We love you soooo much, Monkey Doodle!
Love, Mommy & Daddy

Showing off my Betty Crocker skills:) We are now ready for the party! Birthday boy, check. Family over to celebrate, check. Sweet treats, check. Let's par-tay!
Here we are.... the Jacobsen Crew! Happy 1 month birthday, Lovie!

Daddy had to give you a little help to blow out your candle.

Mimzo (Great Grandma), Mimi (Grandma), and cousin Tori came over to celebrate your big birthday!

Mimzo made you smile today! :)

How neat is this!? 4 generations!

These 3 (Mimi and 2 of her sisters - my mom & my aunts) were fighting over you. They all wanted to hold our Little Man. You sure are loved, Baby Boy.

After all this partying, you were pooped! Sweet dreams, Baby.

What Do You Think...??

Supermodel in the making?? :)

It's Tummy Time!

We tried out Cade's new surfboard tummy mat today (thanks Auntie Katie!).... not sure how into it Cade is, but at least we are giving it a shot. I think he may still be a bit young for these entertainment mats. For now we will stick to tummy time on Mommy & Daddy's chest.

Beach Babe

The other day we had a fun day planned down at Bee & Scott's beach house again. But before we left I gave this 'hunk' a bath. He must like his baths because my little trooper doesn't cry. And once again, there is Penny.... she is so curious about Cade and always has to be right by his side. I think she thinks she is his 2nd Mama! :) Then we put Cade in his beach attire... his "In Search Of Surf" outfit. He looks like such a big boy in his little shorts... usually he is in a onesie. But not today!
He and I took a 2.25 mile walk down to 15th Street. We are so grateful to live at the beach. Cade will have a blast once he is old enough to take advantage of all the fun activities for kids.

Here is Auntie Nat... we are on our way back from lunch at the Balboa pier.

What a fun day we had! Thanks for having us over AGAIN!

It's The Little Things...

5 toes... 2 eyes...

5 fingers...

Perfect nose and mouth...
Thank you Lord for our perfect Little Angel! What an AWESOME gift from you!

1 Month Stats

Cade has his 1 month Dr. appt this morning (even though we are a few days shy). We had to laugh at his stats....
Weight - 33rd percentile. We were surprised since Cade eats like crazy! I often call him my 'chubbs'.
Height - 75th percentile. Another shocker since Brad and I are both on the shorter side.

Cade now weighs 8 lbs, 15 oz (up from 7 lbs, 8 oz at birth) and is 22 in (20.5 at birth).

Great job Buddy! You are right on track! We are so proud of you! Daddy insists you are the smartest Little Man he knows! Mommy agrees:)

Daddy's Ride

After hearing how Brad always shows Cade off to anyone who will listen, my aunt Beth decided to get him this gift.... I figured he would just hang it in his office, but nope, not this proud Daddy! That sucker went on the car the very next day! Too cute! Thanks Bee... as you can see, Brad loves it!

Nice To Meet You

Tami (Brad's cousin) and Josue came by with Sofia, their 5 month old baby girl. Here is the big introduction of the new cousins! If you look close you can see Penny (our dog) trying to squeeze in between Tami and Josue:)Isn't Sofia a doll? Such a pretty little girl! It is hard to believe that Cade will be this big in just a few months! Sofia is smiling up a storm and such a happy baby. Thanks for coming over to visit!

Look, No Hands!

Trying Cade out in his new contraption...

Then and Now

Katie and Jaci, my roommates from college, came over to meet Cade today. This picture reminds me of THEN - how we were in college - No kiddos... And this is NOW.... with our boys. Yep, we all had boys, Funny huh? We went from happy hours to play dates:) Thanks for such a fun afternoon girls (& boys)!

Beach House BBQ Bash!

Thanks Bee & Scott for having us all over to your beach house today. It was the perfect summer day. Great food, family, and people watching! Does it get any better than that!?

Cade asked to wear his surf outfit since we were on the sand:)
Cade with his Mimso (Great Grandma on Mommy's side)One of the only times we held our little man all day... with so many family members around, Cade was well taken care of:) Thanks for loving on our Little Monkey!!

Jesus Loves Cade

We took Cade to church for the 1st time last night. We drove out to Mimi & Poppy's house so we could all go together. Here we are on our way out the door...

Waiting for church to start... yes, I was the crazy mom with the camera documenting every '1st moment'.He slept through the entire service... or was he just praying? :)We got lucky.... he slept through dinner too! Cade's very 1st dinner out! Daddy had to show him off to everyone in the restaurant:)Eat fast...before he wakes up!!Just got home from our eventful day. About 10 minutes after this picture Cade woke up and was ready to 'play' after sleeping all day. No sleep for Mommy & Daddy!

Breakfast at the Yacht Club

Cade meeting his Great Grandma Jacobsen for the 1st time... and seeing cousin Skylar again. Can't have too many family pictures!
