Time to Open Presents!

We came home from Cade's party and gave the kids a nap. They slept so long that my parents had to go home which meant they missed watching Cade open his gifts :(

"Cheese!"

A golf set!  Thanks Mel!  He LOVES this thing.

And a bubble machine.  So cool!  Thanks Sofia.

We bought him this activity table which was perfect because he got so many arts and crafts activities as seen below.

I picked out this tricycle for him.  Brad put it together during his nap.  We were going to wait and give it to him 2 days later on his actual birthday, but we got so excited upon seeing it built that we HAD to give it to him right away:)  After he opened all of his gifts, we told him that we had one more special gift from mommy & daddy.  He LOVED it!

I had to accessorize his "ride" with this bell ....

and this name plate :)

Thank you to everyone who came to Cade's party and for all of the generous gifts!  We are so happy to have such great friends and family.

Cade's 2nd Birthday Bash!

We had Cade's 2nd birthday party at the beach again - just like last year.  It is easy because it is 1 mile from our house.  I did it a bit easier this year and had Costco pizzas instead of BBQing.  I figured that I will go "all out" for Berkley's 1st birthday in a few months, so I'd cut myself some slack for this party.

It was so windy that it was hard to read Cade's birthday sign.  It was chilly for the first hour or so too -hence my jacket that doesn't match my dress.

A lot of our friends/family live close, so many rode bikes...

I got sand pails, water guns, and mini beach balls for the kiddos...

The BIRTHDAY BOY!!  He was in Heaven.  I had a huge tub of "yick rish" (licorice) and Cade went to town.

Cade & "Feeda" (Sofia)...

Me & My baby:)  Love that licorice face!

I love this picture of all 4 of us.  Check out Berkie in her bikini!  Gotta love that belly :)  Love you Berks!

The cake!

As I was about the cut the cake, Cade stuck his fingers in it!  Whoops!

Cade blowing out the candles...

Sofia, Cade & Tori.  Does life get much better?  He is surrounded by 2 of his favorite girls!

I think Cade "got it".  I had been pumping up his "big party" the entire week before.  He woke up Saturday morning ready for "Cade's party with cake"!
We love you so much buddy boy!  I love watching you with all of your friends - you are such a sweet boy.  Here's to many more birthdays to come!
Love,
Mommy

Cade is 2!

I can't believe it! It seems as though overnight, my baby turned into a little boy. Mr. Cade Kendall is officially a 2 year old!

It seems like 2 was a magic number.  The other day he decided he could go down the big scary bounce house slides all by himself!  He must've went down that thing 20 times with the biggest grin on his face- which put huge grins on ours too :)

Cade's 2 year stats:
Length: 2ft 10.5in (53.68th percentile)
Weight: 24 lb 6 oz (10th percentile)

We LOVE you so much baby boy!  You will forever be my little boyfriend!
Love,
Mommy

Cade & Berkley Updates

Cade has learned a new trick.

Brad put him in bed for a nap and Cade was crying because he didn't want to nap. Brad let him go (hoping he would cry himself to sleep) until suddenly the crying stopped. Brad then heard very clearly, "Daddy! Daddy! Open the door". Then he heard knocking on the door.  Cade had climbed out of his crib!  Yikes!  Now what do we do??  The mattress was already on the lowest setting.

We toyed with a few different options and ended up just putting the mattress on the floor.  There are a few pieces of wood under the mattress to lift it up a few inches.  Here it is:  (Cade didn't want to pose for the picture, so he is hiding)

I asked him to show me how he got out of his crib (before we lowered it to the ground), and he never did do it.  But, he kept going backwards like this:

I don't see how that would work...hmmm, guess we'll never know how Houdini did it!

We could've bought him a toddler bed, however, the kids share a room.  This means that he often climbs INTO (and out of) Berkley's bed!  I was scared that he would get up in the middle of the night and climb into her bed, waking her up, for a "party".  The other day, he disappeared and I thought he was with Brad in the back.  Turns out he went in their room while she was napping, and he climbed into her crib and woke her up.  Cade climbing out of Berkley's crib:

I LOVE how much they love each other lately, but that is dangerous!  Cade's favorite activity is "playing in Baba's (Baby's) bed with her".  So cute.  Makes me warm & fuzzy inside to see their friendship develop.

In Berkley news, she is now pulling herself up.  This started a few weeks ago.  She can even stand without holding on for about 15 seconds.  She is also VERY chatty lately and likes to "talk" to herself.... or anyone that will listen :)

Balls, Balls, and More Balls!

Seriously.... this kid has never met a ball he doesn't like.  Red, blue, little, big, soft, squishy, etc, he will love it.  We went to Target yesterday and he insisted on carrying all of these balls through the store.  In order to keep him entertained, I let him play with them.  Perfect life, huh?  And that popcorn he has his hand in.... the icing on his cake, right!?
This is the perfect life for a little boy :)

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July.  The Torres' came over for a BBQ.  We even ventured out into the "crazy scene" down the street to hit up the park for a while.  Newport Beach is definitely a sight to see on the 4th.  Nothing shocks me anymore.  People are all kinds of c.r.a.z.y!  I only got a few pictures of the kiddos:

Cade and Sofia have so much fun together.  It is perfect - the kids get along great and us big kids do too!  We love hanging out with Tami, Josue, & Sofia.
We had a great time with you guys!  Thanks for coming over!  xoxo

Summertime

Now that the kiddos are finally back to their happy little selves, we can get out of the house and enjoy the summer!  A few days ago this meant hopping on bikes and riding down to the pier for ice cream, people watching and the park.  It was Berkie's 1st time on the bike - what fun!

It was the perfect day!   I have missed seeing HUGE smiles on my babies' faces.  Darn you Hand, Foot, Mouth virus!  So glad you are long gone now.

Farewell Lunch

My brother and his family left to go back to Texas. Some of the family got together Sunday afternoon at Don Jose to say goodbye. I went solo and Brad stayed home with the monkeys since they were still contagious.

I only took a few pics.  Me & Dad:
